Students Experience Thrill of the Stock Exchange

Two Ludlow High School Business classes - Mrs. Courtney’s Math for Business and Personal Finance and Mrs. Picard’s Investing in the Stock Market - recently  participated in the 11th Annual Junior Achievement of Western Massachusetts Stock Market Competition held  at the MassMutual Center in downtown Springfield on Thursday, November 10th.

Courtney explained that there was a total of 142 teams competing at this year’s event. Teams were given one millions dollars (fictitious) to invest into fake companies.  A brief description of the companies are provided to enable teams to identify the stocks available to invest in. Video screens provided ongoing team net worth, daily stock prices, and graphical depictions of how stocks are doing.

Below are the LHS teams, with their final results. Congratulations to all who participated in this event.

Pop Stock members included- Deanna Dias, Hope Guevin, Melissa Poehler, Brendan Quinones, Chynnaluv Shaw, and Kendall Weake.  With a final net worth of $939,184.94 they placed 16th.

The Team members included- Devin Belton, Taylor Boyer, Kyle Goncalves, Michaela Neylon, Moises Rodriguez, Mohammad Saleh. They placed 89th.

Trump that Stock members included - Max Cocchi, Mike Dias, Zac Douville, Matt Jordan, Chad Noga, and Ryan Pereira. They placed 36th.

The Great Stocks members included - Dylan Beddow, Christian MacKenzie and Dante Wright. They placed 113th

Weemershups members included - Andrew Conchina, Hailey Dowling, Peyton Guida and Aidan Thompson. They placed 133rd.
