Sixty seniors received the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship on Friday, November 3rd during an awards ceremony in the LHS auditorium (see list of recipients below). The recipients received the scholarship based on their advanced and/or proficient scores on the state assessment exams.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education website, recipients must have scores of Advanced and Proficient on grade 10 MCAS tests in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics and combined scores on MCAS ELA and Mathematics tests that place them in the top 25% of students in the graduating class in their district.

The scholarship provides each recipient with a tuition waiver for up to eight semesters of undergraduate education at a Massachusetts state college or university. The scholarship covers tuition only; fees and room and board are not included. The scholarship is for four years, provided the student maintains a 3.0 GPA  on all college work, remains a full time student and annually completes the FAFSA.
