With overflowing thanks, the Ludlow High School National Honor Society is proud to announce that, with the support of not only their school, but also East Street, Veterans Park and Chapin Street Schools, and with the donations from the Ludlow community, they surpassed last year's total of  $10,459.69 by raising a total of $11,523.97. Brandi Stratton, NHS Adviser, explains that this total is a combination of food donations and money raised from a fundraiser at Pizzeria Unos.

The Mayflower Marathon is a local Springfield area tradition that is hosted by Bax and O'Brien (John O’Brien and Mike Baxendale) DJs from Rock 102 Radio. According to their website, this year the Mayflower Marathon raised over $127,000 worth of food & monetary donations, setting a new record! All of the food collected is donated to the Open Pantry in Springfield to help those in need.

“It feels amazing to be able to participate in an event like Mayflower Marathon,” shared LHS senior Matthew Lussier, President of the LHS NHS. “It was so gratifying to collect canned goods for the less fortunate;  and I hope our donations will make a huge difference in their lives. I was also ecstatic to see our school come together for such a great cause.”

"We cannot thank everyone enough for donating and supporting this tradition," shared Shannon Anderson, NHS Adviser. "This truly makes the process worthwhile. This holiday season, as in years past, I personally am so grateful to be a part of the Ludlow community.”

“Our students and teachers are so generous in giving during this can food drive,” added Lisa Nemeth, LHS Principal, echoing the sentiments of many. “NHS students and advisers create such an excitement in the school for the Mayflower Marathon. It’s nice to see all of us coming together for such a great cause.”
