According to Joanne Santos-PontesLHS Portuguese Club Adviser, not only has the club membership grown tremendously this year, but also have their hearts.  She reports that the club donated over 100 toys to this year's Toys for Tots Drive.  The donated toys were given to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program of Western Mass, and ultimately distributed to children in need.
In addition, club members also made holiday cards for U. S. soldiers who are serving in our Armed Forces and volunteered their time at a recent clean up at the Ludlow Portuguese Community School.
In the new year, the club is hoping to impact the community with additioanl community service iniatives.  They plan on sponsoring a food drive; collecting canned goods for the Survival Center in Indian Orchard.
Santos-Pontes wanted to thank the LHS staff and Ludlow community for their continued support of the club and it's mission of sharing the Portuguese language and culture with others.
